Witness Stone Dedication Ceremony

Join us as we dedicate a Witness Stone in memory of Adam Jackson, who was enslaved on the property for more than three decades. Students from The Williams School share their journey learning about the lives of Adam and his family. The installation will take place on the grounds, accompanied by remarks from members of the community and student project presentations.

Hartford’s Bridges & Walkways Walking Tour

Woodworkers Workshop

Historical furniture maker John Baron leads a hands-on woodworking class making a “Chippendale” form table in the Palmer-Warner barn. This project will introduce participants to mortice and tenon joinery and nail construction while building a finished project to take home. No experience required and all materials included.

Palmer-Warner Pride Month Open Tour Day

The Palmer-Warner House is open for tours on Saturdays, June 1-22 from 12 noon–4 pm in celebration of Pride Month! Specialty tours of the home will introduce visitors to its residents and explore the themes of Equity, Unity, and Reflection. A Historic Timeline of Connecticut’s LGBTQ Community on loan from the Connecticut Museum of Culture and History will be on view in the barn.

The Coventry Farmers’ Market on the grounds of the Nathan Hale Homestead is an experience not to be missed. This market carries the tradition of being the largest farmers’ market in the state, featuring some of the best of Connecticut-grown, Connecticut-made products in one of the most unspoiled countryside settings in the state. Each week, the staff of the Homestead will lead a family-friendly activity to connect the history of the site with the theme of the market. Admission to the Nathan Hale Homestead is by regular admission and is not included in the Farmers’ Market program.

Juneteenth celebrates the end of slavery in the United States, announced in 1865 by Union Soldiers in Galveston, Texas, with news that the Civil War had ended and the enslaved were now free.
