Connecticut Landmarks is a state-wide network of significant historic properties that span four centuries of New England history. Distinctive facilities at each site reflect the stories and style of our past. Rental space available for weddings, social events, corporate functions and community groups.

Nathan Hale Homestead

2299 South Street, Coventry (map)

Built in 1776, the Nathan Hale Homestead is a National Historic Landmark and the birthplace of Connecticut’s State Hero, Nathan Hale. The property features an 18th-century English Barn with rare gunstock timber framing, a charming 19th-century Dairy Barn, and open pastures surrounded by stone walls and forest. This beautiful home offers a quintessentially New England backdrop for your wedding day or other event.

Phelps-Hatheway House & Garden

The Phelps-Hatheway House & Garden highlights the elegant lifestyle enjoyed by two 18th-century families on Suffield’s historic Main Street. From the grand staircase to the fine Connecticut furniture and Parisian wallpaper, the house showcases Federal period high style. The landscaped grounds feature formal flower beds and an herb garden. A historic barn and cozy summer house are perfect for weddings, meetings, and other special occasions.

Amenities

  • 1867 barn has a capacity of 75 for a seated meal
  • An expansive lawn may be tented for groups up to 160
  • A quaint Summer House set in the garden accommodates 50 standing, 30 seated
  • The formal garden may be used for ceremonies or receptions

Butler-McCook House & Garden & Amos Bull House

396 Main Street, Hartford (map)

The renovated Amos Bull House adjoins the Butler-McCook House’s historic garden, creating the largest privately-owned, publicly accessible green space in downtown Hartford. A bright event space features exposed wood beams and original brick walls as well as an A/V system, catering kitchen and elevator access. The dual property is an oasis of history and charm, a superb location for outdoor weddings and parties or indoor meetings and gatherings.

  • Outdoor terrace and extensive lawn may be tented for groups up to 225
  • Meeting room with A/V system and catering kitchen accommodates up to 40 seated guests
  • Rentals of the Amos Bull House may be combined with the indoor and outdoor facilities at the adjacent Butler McCook House & Garden

Facility rentals are available select dates May-October at the Nathan Hale Homestead and Phelps-Hatheway House & Garden, and year-round at the Butler-McCook House & Garden.

  • Fees include use of event spaces, historic barn(s) and/or visitor centers; gardens and grounds; on-site restrooms (for events up to 75 guests).
  • Complimentary hour for set-up and clean-up before and after event included
  • Half- and Full-Day Rentals include hour for set-up/rehearsal the day before event
  • Tables, chairs, tents, and additional bathrooms are not included
  • Complimentary guest access to historic house museum may be available
  • Non-refundable reservation deposit is due at time of booking
  • All events must end by 10 pm
  • Liability Insurance required
