Suffield’s South Main Street bears a particular charm as the holidays approach. The “grand dames” of this historic thoroughfare are festively lit and decorated to celebrate the season. Join our costumed guides as they transport guests to the time before electricity illuminated our homes. Beginning promptly at 4 pm, the Holiday Lantern Tour will lead visitors of all ages from the King House to High Street and finally to the exquisite Phelps-Hatheway House. In collaboration with the Suffield Historical Society, we invite you to find warm hearts and local traditions at the Society’s Holiday Fest from 1-4pm (please see Suffield Historical Society for details & admission) before joining the lantern walk.
Children are especially welcome to participate in the easy 1-mile journey, as this walk will contain more sparkle than darkness and is suitable for even our youngest visitors.
This tour will begin and end at the Phelps-Hatheway House & Garden. Parking is available onsite. Staff will lead the group to the King House for the start of the tour at 4 pm.
Please dress for the weather as this event takes place outdoors. If you have a flashlight or lantern, please bring it to help light our way!
