DESCRIPTION:Connecticut Landmarks honors heroes this July with the 9th annual Flag Field for Heroes\, presented in partnership with the Coventry Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Coventry American Legion. Sponsor an American flag in honor of a military service member\, veteran\, or hero. Each flag will be fitted with a tag listing the honoree’s name\, branch of service\, and period of service. DESCRIPTION:Bring a lawn chair and a picnic dinner as our historic garden comes alive with music! Round out your evening with free tours of the house museum’s first floor\, an audio tour of the garden\, and featured artist exhibitions. In case of inclement weather\, the concert will move indoors to the Amos Bull Community Room. \nFeatured Performers: Ghazi Omair\, “I\, Too\, Sing America. I\, Too\, Am America.” \nInspired by a poem by Langston Hughes\, Ghazi Omair sets poetry and writings to music in this performance that combines spoken word\, hip-hop and jazz.  \nPersonnel: \nGhazi Omair – poetry/spoken word \nChantal Edwards-Matthews – interpretive dance \nDamian Curtis – piano \nMatt Dwonszyk – bass \nDwayne Keith– drums \nAustin Phillips – guitar \nBIO: Ghazi Omair is a Hip-Hop Lyricist/Poet from Hartford\, CT. He has performed at venues throughout the Tri-State area and focuses on the musical space between Hip-Hop and Jazz. He has worked with artists such as Matt Dwonzsyk\, The Lost Tribe\, Cappadonna\, Self Suffice\, Michael Pallas and other artists throughout New York and Connecticut.   \nGhazi’s last release is titled “Lavender” and can be found on all major streaming platforms. Lavender is an experimental project combining Trap\, Hip-Hop and Jazz while splicing conversations of social commentary between the songs. \nRegister Now\n\nSponsored by the Richard P. Garmany Fund at the Greater Hartford Gives Foundation; the Evelyn W. Preston Memorial Trust Fund\, Bank of America\, N.A.\, Trustee; and the Ensworth Charitable Foundation\, Bank of America. \nRegistration appreciated\, but walk-ups always welcome! See the other programs in our Sunset Sounds Concert Series!  \nThis concert will take place on the terrace at the Amos Bull House\, located to the rear of the Butler-McCook garden at 59 S. Prospect Street in Hartford. The grounds open at 5 pm and the performance begins at 6 pm. Please note that metered street parking is usually readily available in the area\, and free after 6 pm. Visitors may park and enter at the Butler-McCook entrance on Main Street\, or the Amos Bull entrance on S. Prospect Street. \nThis program takes place outdoors. In case of inclement weather\, the concert will move indoors to the Amos Bull Community Room. Registrants will be notified at the email address on file in the case of cancellation.
