I\, Too\, Am America.” \nInspired by a poem by Langston Hughes\, Ghazi Omair sets poetry and writings to music in this performance that combines spoken word\, hip-hop and jazz.  \nPersonnel: \nGhazi Omair – poetry/spoken word \nChantal Edwards-Matthews – interpretive dance \nDamian Curtis – piano \nMatt Dwonszyk – bass \nDwayne Keith– drums \nAustin Phillips – guitar \nBIO: Ghazi Omair is a Hip-Hop Lyricist/Poet from Hartford\, CT. He has performed at venues throughout the Tri-State area and focuses on the musical space between Hip-Hop and Jazz. He has worked with artists such as Matt Dwonzsyk\, The Lost Tribe\, Cappadonna\, Self Suffice\, Michael Pallas and other artists throughout New York and Connecticut.   \nGhazi’s last release is titled “Lavender” and can be found on all major streaming platforms. Matt Parker \nKicking off our concert season will be the exuberant sounds of Tubby\, long-time project of Matt Parker. Paying tribute to the rich jazz heritage of New Orleans\, especially the many talented sax players to come from that city\, Tubby celebrates and shares this joyful tradition. Their mission is simple: bring the soulful rhythms of New Orleans to life — and get people on their feet dancing!  \nPersonnel:\nMatt Parker – saxophone\nLuca Benedetti – guitar\nDanny Fox – piano\nDave Speranza – bass\nDan Rieser – drums  \nMatt Parker bio: Matt Parker is a tenor and soprano saxophone player\, born and raised in Fort Lauderdale\, Florida and a recent arrival to Hartford. After seeing trumpeter Maynard Ferguson in concert\, he fell in love with jazz and was mentored by the legendary South Florida saxophonist Jimmy Cavallo. Parker played professionally as a teenager in New Orleans before moving to New York to study with Jane Ira Bloom\, Barry Harris\, and Junior Mance. Nigel has studied with Steve Davis\, Dr. Emmett Goods\, and Hommy Ramos. He has shared the stage with musicians such as Zaccai and Luques Curtis\, Nat Reeves\, Gary Bartz\, and Steve Davis. In 2023\, he traveled to France with the New Jersey Youth Symphony’s Jazz Orchestra as their second-chair trombone. Nigel has also played in many professional settings\, such as opening the Paul Brown Monday Night Jazz Series and the Greater Hartford Jazz Festival\, as well as accompanying musicians such as Michael Stuart\, Frankie Ruiz Jr.\, Johnny Rivera\, Nino Segarra\, and many others.
