Gardens will be open rain or shine. \nBellamy-Ferriday House & Garden  \nRoam the beautiful\, landscaped areas of our 10-acre property. Over a 70-year period\, Eliza Ferriday and her daughter\, Caroline\, created a garden showcasing their love of roses\, lilacs and peonies. Today\, the garden is maintained by staff. Bellamy-Ferriday joined CT Historic Gardens in 2004 as a founding member. Our staff will be on hand to answer questions.   \nBook a guided tour of the museum interiors » \n\nButler-McCook House & Garden \nInspired by their European travels\, Eliza Butler and Mary Sheldon adapted an original plan by the Swiss landscape architect Jacob Weidenmann for their Victorian ornamental garden on Hartford’s Main Street. The formal parterre garden features low boxwood hedges with beds of roses\, perennials\, and annuals connected by winding stone paths. It is lovingly cared for by the West Hartford Garden Club. DESCRIPTION:Leaving from the Butler-McCook House & Garden\, this walk will proceed north up Main Street to the G. Fox Building along the east side\, and return to Butler-McCook along the west side with a collaborative stop at the Ancient Burying Ground. This walk is a variant of our “Discovering Main Street Hartford” walk\, discussing changes to Main Street and encouraging participant discussion about what has been saved and why\, as well as inviting participants to share their recollections about Main Street and its importance. \nRegister through Preservation CT\n\nThis walk is offered free as part of Jane’s Walk CT in collaboration with the Ancient Burying Ground.  Jane’s Walk is a global festival of free\, volunteer-led walking conversations inspired by community activist Jane Jacobs\, held annually on the first Saturday in May. DESCRIPTION:The Isham-Terry House is a time capsule of genteel life in turn-of-the-century Hartford. In 1896\, Dr. Oliver Isham purchased the 1854 Italianate house for his medical practice and as a home for himself\, his parents and his three sisters. His sisters\, Julia and Charlotte\, lived in the house until their deaths in the 1970s as urban renewal claimed many of the houses in the once-grand neighborhood. DESCRIPTION:Bring a lawn chair and a picnic dinner while you enjoy music and an artist’s exhibition in the lovely setting of the Butler-McCook House & Garden. Plus\, be sure to stay for a free tour of the house’s first floor! Audio tours are available via the IZI.Travel app for the historic garden. The Amos Bull House will also celebrate a featured artist’s exhibition in our community room. \nFeatured Artists: Kojo Melché Roney Quartet\, featuring Antoine Roney \nRegister Now\n\nSponsored by: the Richard P. Prospect Street in Hartford. The grounds open at 5 pm and the performance begins at 6 pm. Please note that metered street parking is usually readily available in the area\, and free after 6 pm. Visitors may park and enter at the Butler-McCook entrance on Main Street\, or the Amos Bull entrance on S. DESCRIPTION:On Historic Gardens Day\, sixteen historic gardens around the state welcome you to explore a variety of beautiful garden styles from different periods. Enjoy free admission to visit the gardens of three participating Connecticut Landmarks sites! Advance reservation for house tours via the link below for each property. Gardens will be open rain or shine. \nBellamy-Ferriday House & Garden  \nRoam the beautiful\, landscaped areas of our 10-acre property. Over a 70-year period\, Eliza Ferriday and her daughter\, Caroline\, created a garden showcasing their love of roses\, lilacs and peonies. Today\, the garden is maintained with the aid of the Watertown Garden Club. Bellamy-Ferriday joined CT Historic Gardens in 2004 as a founding member. Our staff will be on hand to answer questions.   \nBook a guided tour of the museum interiors » \n\nButler-McCook House & Garden \nInspired by their European travels\, Eliza Butler and Mary Sheldon adapted an original plan by the Swiss landscape architect Jacob Weidenmann for their Victorian ornamental garden on Hartford’s Main Street. The formal parterre garden features low boxwood hedges with beds of roses\, perennials\, and annuals connected by winding stone paths. It is lovingly cared for by the West Hartford Garden Club. Butler-McCook joined CT Historic Gardens in 2004 as a founding member.  \nThe Butler-McCook House & Garden is thrilled to be featured on this year’s Historic Gardens Day poster! We will host this year’s poster contest winner artist Michelle Hawran on-site\, who will be painting in our garden. Bring a picnic and your dancing shoes to the garden of the Butler-McCook House and join the party in Hartford’s best kept secret—our historic garden oasis–with perennial crowd favorite Ed Fast and Congabop. Have no doubt that this will be an exciting performance filled with Fast’s original tunes and rumbafied standards and his stellar line-up of performers\, including legendary percussionist Sammy Figueroa. \nSAMMY FIGUEROA has long been regarded as one of the world’s great musicians. As one of the leading percussionists he has played on countless records and is well-known for his versatility in a multitude of musical styles. Besides playing with some of the world’s greatest pop stars\, such as David Bowie\, Chaka Khan and Mariah Carey\, Sammy has also played with a multitude of distinguished jazz artists including Miles Davis\, Sonny Rollins\, Quincy Jones\, George Benson\, and many\, many more. \nThis internationally recognized day of music began over 40 years ago and is now celebrated in 120 countries with thousands of free concerts.
