Take to the streets of Hartford to uncover the fascinating history of sports in the city from ballooning to bicycles\, boxing to baseball\, and so much more\, beginning in the Butler-McCook Garden on this new walk for the 2024 season. \nRegister Now\n\nAdvance registration is required. This program is part of our Historic Hartford Walking Tours series\, where we forge new paths through Hartford’s history! Register for additional walks here.  \nPlease wear comfortable walking shoes and dress for the weather\, as this program will take place outdoors. Luther Whitlock\, the cloistered miser who lived in Blackwood Manor\, had a family? Why would a wealthy man who could afford to live anywhere move into a house with such a tragic history? In 1896\, Dr. Oliver Isham purchased the 1854 Italianate house for his medical practice and as a home for himself\, his parents and his three sisters. His sisters\, Julia and Charlotte\, lived in the house until their deaths in the 1970s as urban renewal claimed many of the houses in the once-grand neighborhood.
