SUMMARY:Seasons of Change Art Exhibit: Laurie Tavino and Ray Pioggia
DESCRIPTION:Stop into Phelps-Hatheway’s Visitor Center for the Seasons of Change art exhibition by Laurie Tavino and Ray Pioggia. In this exhibit\, photographic and hand-rendered images in color and monochrome depict scenes and themes from locations throughout Suffield – a number of which are views that no longer exist. \nWe invite you to join us for the exhibit’s opening reception on Friday\, May 1\, from 5 pm–7 pm in the Visitor’s Center. Laurie and Ray will be on site to answer questions as you gather with friends and neighbors to take in the beauty of this special offering. \nThe exhibit will be open during the property’s regular open hours this season through November 1. SUMMARY:Sunset Sounds Concert Series | SOAR: Sounds of April & Randall
DESCRIPTION:Bring a lawn chair and a picnic dinner while you enjoy music in the lovely setting of the Butler-McCook House & Garden. Plus\, be sure to stay for a free tour of the house’s first floor! Audio tours are available via the IZI.Travel app for the historic garden. The Amos Bull and Butler-McCook Houses will also celebrate featured artist exhibitions. Concerts happen rain or shine. In case of inclement weather\, the concert will move indoors to the Amos Bull Community Room. \nFeatured Performers: SOAR: Sounds of April & Randall \nConcluding our 2026 concert series\, we will SOAR with the Sounds of April and Randall!  April May Webb\, 2024 winner of the Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition\, and Randall Haywood\, named a “Rising Star” by Hot House & Jazzmobile NYC\, lead an award-winning jazz ensemble sparked by their great musical chemistry. April & Randall blend jazz with Country\, R&B\, and Gospel influences. Webb was a student of the late Mulgrew Miller\, while Randall earned his Master’s at Juilliard. In 2023\, they were named U.S. Cultural Ambassadors.  \nPersonnel:\nApril May Webb – vocals  \nRandall Haywood – trumpet  \nRegister Now\n\nSponsored by the Richard P. Garmany Fund at the Greater Hartford Gives Foundation; the Evelyn W. Preston Memorial Trust Fund\, Bank of America\, N.A.\, Trustee; and the Ensworth Charitable Foundation\, Bank of America. \nRegistration appreciated\, but walk-ups always welcome! See the other programs in our Sunset Sounds Concert Series!  \nPhoto by April May Webb. \nThis concert will take place on the terrace at the Amos Bull House\, located to the rear of the Butler-McCook garden at 59 S. Prospect Street in Hartford. The grounds open at 5 pm and the performance begins at 6 pm. Please note that metered street parking is usually readily available in the area\, and free after 6 pm. Visitors may park and enter at the Butler-McCook entrance on Main Street\, or the Amos Bull entrance on S. Prospect Street. \nThis program takes place outdoors. In case of inclement weather\, the concert will move indoors to the Amos Bull Community Room. Registrants will be notified at the email address on file in the case of cancellation.
