SUMMARY:Pastel Paintings Art Exhibit: Gina Trusiewicz
DESCRIPTION:Stop into Phelps-Hatheway’s Visitor Center for the Pastel Paintings exhibition by Gina Trusiewicz. With a longtime interest in art\, Trusiewicz developed her craft in an online class during the pandemic. Her interest in nature\, animals\, and plants\, combined with her certification as a Master Gardener\, has inspired the work for this exhibit–capturing everyday moments in West Hartford or right from her own backyard through the medium of soft pastel sticks. She also aims to capture the feelings these moments evoke; whether it be the brightness of the sunshine\, the iridescence of a flower\, or the sweet look on the face of a neighborhood bear as he has finished raiding the neighbor’s garbage can. \nAn opening reception will be held on Saturday\, May 17 during the Suffield Garden Club’s 47th Annual May Market. Gina Trusiewicz will be on site from 1 pm-3 pm. \nDuring the museum’s open tour day on September 14\, Trusiewicz will be onsite from 1 pm–2 pm to demonstrate the art of pastel painting. \nThe exhibit will be open during the property’s regular open hours this season. DESCRIPTION:Bring a lawn chair and a picnic dinner while you enjoy music in the lovely setting of the Butler-McCook House & Garden. Plus\, be sure to stay for a free tour of the house’s first floor! Audio tours are available via the IZI.Travel app for the historic garden. The Amos Bull and Butler-McCook Houses will also celebrate featured artist exhibitions. Concerts happen rain or shine. In case of inclement weather\, the concert will move indoors to the Amos Bull Community Room. \nFeatured Performers: Steve Bulmer’s Hall Monitors \nThe Hall Monitors\, a group of top-notch jazz musicians brought together through our love of playing\, composing\, arranging\, AND teaching\, currently consists of Steven Bulmer on bass\, Jen Allen on piano\, Matt Parker on saxes and flute\, Nathan Edwards on saxes and Ben Bilello on drums.\nThe group performs a variety of intense jazz styles and includes innovative originals in their programs along with original treatments of not-so-standard jazz classics and tributes to jazz legacies such as Harold Mabern\, Phil Woods\, Roy Hargrove and Benny Golson. It features a classic piano-bass-drums rhythm section with two innovative and complementary saxophonists. \nThe Amos Bull and Butler-McCook Houses will also celebrate featured artist exhibitions of Frank Poulin and Andy Hart. \nRegister Now\n\nSponsored by: the Richard P. Visitors may park and enter at the Butler-McCook entrance on Main Street\, or the Amos Bull entrance on S. Prospect Street. \nThis program takes place outdoors.
