SUMMARY:Lilac Walks
DESCRIPTION:Thank you for your interest in the lilacs at the Bellamy-Ferriday House & Garden. Unfortunately\, the cold winter and recent bouts of significant rain have impacted the quality and visibility of this year’s blooms\, and the plants are now past their prime. Scheduled Lilac Walks will proceed to highlight the remaining flowers and discuss the gardens’ history and care.  \nWhen you think of the Bellamy-Ferriday House & Garden\, you think of lilacs. Each spring\, the stunning variety of lilacs curated by Caroline Woolsey Ferriday and her mother scent the gardens and show off their fleeting blossoms in shades of purples\, pinks\, and even whites. Walk the grounds and garden with our guide to learn about the long history of the lilacs on the property and how we care for them. \nRegister for 11:30 am\n\nLilac tours take place on select days and require tickets. See the full line-up here. Advance reservation is recommended as space is limited and these tours sell out! This tour does not include a house tour; tickets for house tours may be purchased separately. \nPlease wear comfortable walking shoes and dress for the weather\, as this program takes place outdoors. In case of cancellation due to severe weather\, registrants will be notified at the email address on file. \nIf you have any questions\, please contact Site Administrator Peg Shimer at bellamy.ferriday@ctlandmarks.org or call (203) 266-7596. \nCTL Members\, sign in to our ticketing system to access your benefits.

SUMMARY:Pastel Paintings Art Exhibit: Gina Trusiewicz
DESCRIPTION:Stop into Phelps-Hatheway’s Visitor Center for the Pastel Paintings exhibition by Gina Trusiewicz. With a longtime interest in art\, Trusiewicz developed her craft in an online class during the pandemic. Her interest in nature\, animals\, and plants\, combined with her certification as a Master Gardener\, has inspired the work for this exhibit–capturing everyday moments in West Hartford or right from her own backyard through the medium of soft pastel sticks. She also aims to capture the feelings these moments evoke; whether it be the brightness of the sunshine\, the iridescence of a flower\, or the sweet look on the face of a neighborhood bear as he has finished raiding the neighbor’s garbage can. \nAn opening reception will be held on Saturday\, May 17 during the Suffield Garden Club’s 47th Annual May Market. Gina Trusiewicz will be on site from 1 pm-3 pm. \nDuring the museum’s open tour day on September 14\, Trusiewicz will be onsite from 1 pm–2 pm to demonstrate the art of pastel painting. \nThe exhibit will be open during the property’s regular open hours this season. If you would like to book a tour to accompany your visit\, please see the calendar. \n\nIf you have any questions\, please contact phelps.hatheway@ctlandmarks.org.
