A guide will discuss box types\, history\, supplies\, and take guests on a walk to find beginner level letterboxes in the Connecticut State Forest. DESCRIPTION:Visit one of New England’s earliest graveyards with a special focus on those of African descent who are buried there. Meet your guides from the Hempsted Houses and the New London chapter of the NAACP at the burying ground at the top of Hempstead Street. \nAdvance registration recommended. Please wear comfortable walking shoes and dress for the weather as this program takes place outdoors. SUMMARY:Music in the Hatheway Garden: ASMI Chamber Ensemble
DESCRIPTION:What could be better than an afternoon in the garden? After a successful debut in 2021\, the Phelps-Hatheway House and Garden will once again offer a concert series in its 1867 barn. New this year are esteemed artists from Connecticut and Massachusetts. \nOn Sunday\, September 4\, the Pizzazz Quartet from Trumbull\, CT will delight us with a varied repertoire of classical and contemporary pieces. \nFresh off their recent residency in Rimini\, Italy\, the ASMI Chamber Ensemble featuring acclaimed violinist Emil Altschuler will fill the Hatheway barn on Sunday\, September 25\, with a program of richly textured classical and folk selections. \nOur series ends on Sunday\, October 2\, with the International String Trio\, who will lead the audience on a musical journey through classical\, jazz and world music. \nPurchase Tickets \nTours of our historic interiors will be available for an additional charge preceding the concert at 1pm. \nGenerously supported by PeoplesBank.
